Here’s a simple guide on how to set meaningful and inspired goals so that you can live a life that you love. Let’s move beyond the traditional notion of goals by setting purposeful and inspired goals so that you can live fulfilled and happy life.
If it you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a big advocate of goal-setting because it helps give structure and direction to your day-to-day. It helps you align your choices and actions to your goals and your values so that you are making sure that you are on a path of constant personal growth.
On the surface, goal-setting seems to be about what you want to achieve, like getting a job promotion, or what you to bring into your life, like your dream house, a coveted pair of shoes, a designer purse or a trip of a lifetime.
These are all great goals and truth be told, most of these goals are also on my list of goals that I’m going to achieve one day.
But what I’m noticing is that there is an important dimension of goal-setting that is missing in the goal-setting world, and that is how to set meaningful and inspired goals.
What Are Meaningful and Inspired Goals?
I strongly believe that setting meaningful and inspired goals should be the basis of any goal-setting and goal-slaying strategy.
Meaningful and inspired goals are based on your values, your beliefs and your life’s purpose. It’s goals that are aligned with what you believe you are meant to do in this world, the difference you are going to make and the legacy you are going to leave.
[bctt tweet=”Meaningful and inspired goals are based on your values, your beliefs and your life’s purpose” username=”seppyforlove”]
The moment you turn your focus on how you want to feel, what your life’s purpose is and how you want to find meaning in your day-to-day, the natural outcome is that you will start to align your thoughts, your actions, your choices and your behaviour with those inspired goals.
When you start tapping into the more intuitive aspect of goals and what you want to achieve, how you want to feel and what you want to accomplish, you will be guided in a more inspired and purposeful direction.
With this basis, you will be able to uncover goals that will bring you pure joy, that will make you feel giddy with happiness and give you butterflies in your stomach. The goals that will you that pep in your step, that will put in you a mood that no one will be able to damper.
These are the goals that will give you purpose on a daily basis, that will make you feel inspired on a regular basis and that will give meaning to your days and everything that you are doing.
I believe that if you find true meaning and a deeper purpose behind your goals, then you will uncover real success. You will constantly be growing, evolving and changing every days. You will be moving closer to becoming the truest version of yourself.
[bctt tweet=”If you find true meaning and a deeper purpose behind your goals, then you will uncover real success” username=”seppyforlove”]
The true purpose behind goals is not about the achievement itself, but about the person you become in the process.
It takes time, effort, patience, consistency to achieve your goals. And through those efforts, you are learning about yourself, you are becoming stronger in your values and beliefs. You understand yourself better because you are uncovering and overcoming your limiting beliefs to bring you closer to achieving your goals.
In your goal-slaying journey, you are uncovering your true potential and becoming the person you were always meant to be.
[bctt tweet=”In your journey to achieve inspired goals, you are uncovering your true potential and becoming the person you were always meant to be” username=”seppyforlove”]
I encourage you to go over your goals and to think about the person you want to become, the life you want to live, the impact you want to have, how you want to live your life’s purpose, what *is* your life’s purpose, how you want to make people that you interact with feel, whether it’s online or offline.
To give you a bit more guidance, here are 3 important questions you should ask yourself if you want to set goals or whether you are reviewing your goals.
Inspired Goal # 1 | Who Do I Want To Be?
This question is SO incredibly powerful because it can not only guide the goals you choose to set for yourself, but it can also guide important life decisions and your day-to-day decisions.
When it comes to goals, asking yourself “Who do I want to be?” rather than “What should I do?” or “What do I want?” will help you determine the skills, habits and steps that you need to create in order to achieve your goals.
[bctt tweet=”When’s the last time you stopped and asked yourself: Who do I want to be? Asking yourself this question will help you guide your day-to-day decisions, thoughts, behaviours and choices” username=”seppyforlove”]
So how will asking yourself this question guide you towards more meaningful and inspired goals? Let me give you concrete examples to show you.
Example # 1
If you ask yourself, “Who do I want to be?” and the answer is, “I want to be healthy,” then you need to first define what ‘healthy’ looks like for YOU. That can include physical, mental and emotional health. Then for each of those areas, you can set specific parameters that you’d like to reach.
Once you have a clear idea of what healthy looks like, this will help you figure out what habits you need to implement on a regular basis that will lead you to becoming a healthy person.
Example # 2
If the answer is, “I want to be happy,” then you need to first figure out WHAT makes you happy so that you can make the space and time in your life for them. Is it more time with your family? Is it doing more creative projects? Is it traveling the world?
Once you’ve identified what makes you happy, it will become easier to implement those activities and habits that support that goal.
Example # 3
If you answer: “I want to be successful,” Ok, great! But what does success mean to you? What does it look like concretely? Do you define success by how much money you make? If so, how much is that? Or is success being a great partner to your significant other? And what does THAT look like? Who do you have to be the best partner you can be.
By asking yourself who you want to BE rather than what you want to HAVE and then taking the time to define it in concrete terms, you will see that your goals will become crystal clear and it will help guide your choices, your decisions and your behaviour and what action you decide to focus on.
Inspired Goal # 2 | How Do I Want To Feel?
What are the dominant emotions that you currently feel on a daily basis? What are the dominant emotions that you would rather feel instead?
Do you want to feel inspired? Great. What inspires you? Is it someone specific that inspires you? Is it something specific that gets you inspired, like being in nature or spending time with specific people?
Do you want feel excited every day? Ok, great! But what gets your excited? What makes you feel so excited like a child that you can’t contain it? Whatever that might be, you need to do more of that.
[bctt tweet=”What are some dominant emotions you’d like to feel in your life? Let that question guide your goals so that they can be meaningful and inspired goals” username=”seppyforlove”]
Or maybe you want to feel more balanced (that makes two of us). Then you need to take a hard look at your life and see what’s making you feel IMBALANCED, and then try and adjust it so that you can feel more balanced. Maybe you need to incorporate more self-care and quiet time. Or maybe you need to make more time for your family and relationships.
Asking yourself the top emotions that you want to feel on a consistent basis will not only make you aware of the emotions that you ARE currently feeling instead, but will make you recognize the things that you need to change to be able to feel those emotions instead.

Inspired Goal # 3 | What Impact do I want to Have in the World?
I know, this is a big one, and one that will most likely change with time. But an important question to ask yourself.
We are all put on this Earth for a purpose. I KNOW, it sounds cheesy, but hear me out because it’s SO true and SO powerful.
Your purpose can be multi-faceted and is not limited to ONE thing and does not have to be accomplished only ONE way.
You can have a different purpose at different times in your life, or you can have the same purpose but what it looks like in practical terms will vary through time.
What impact do you want to leave on this world? What change would you like to create? How do you want to help those around you, your community, your world?
Your community can be as big as your city, country, or as little as your neighbourhood or your family or your group of friends. The size doesn’t matter, what matters is the depth of the impact you have. Because you never know the ripple effects that you can have by touching the soul of one person.
[bctt tweet=”What matters most in life is the depth of impact you have on those around you. Let THAT be your guiding light when you’re trying to achieve inspired goals” username=”seppyforlove”]
By figuring out the impact you want to have on the world, you will then be able to determine the scope of it (how big or how small you want to go) and then your HOW.
How do you want to impact the world? And how will you create that impact? Can you combine your talent and skills to do that? Or can you do it on a smaller scale?
[bctt tweet=”Set inspired goals by asking yourself this empowering question first: How do you want to impact the world?” username=”seppyforlove”]
Your impact can even be helping one person, every day, in a big or small way. Again, never underestimate the size of how you help someone because you never know and will never understand the ripple effects that can have on their lives and the lives of the people around that person that you help.
Figure out what impact you’d like to have and then you will be able to figure out your goals around that.
Get Started!
By asking yourself more empowering questions will help you set more inspired goals which will guide your daily actions and decisions.
If the foundation of your goals are based on things that inspire you, the more likely you are to succeed and achieve those goals because they will be based emotional motivation.
