In these series, I share a quick dose of wisdom in the hopes of inspiring and motivating you in your journey to achieving your goals and creating a life that you love. This is an excerpt from the weekly Love Letters I send to my mailing list, so make sure to subscribe if you want to receive the full letter in your inbox!
Our lives are crazy. There’s no other way of putting. There’s always so much going on, and then life throws you more sh*t to deal with.
I know. I get it. It’s hard sometimes.
So how do you know when to push through? How do you know when you’re doing too much? What do you do when you start feeling overwhelmed and you have too much on your plate, and yet you feel like you can’t stop?
As someone that only knows one way of functioning (i.e. always push through, even when you feel like you have no energy left, you can always push through a little bit more), it’s been hard learning how to stop, learning how to understand and meet my needs and to even learn how to NOT feel guilty for my needs.
My therapist and I came up with a few simple prompts to help me build the muscle to understand, validate, and respect my needs. Here’s a glimpse of the prompts that I try to answer 3 times per day as a “mini check-in” so that I can adjust my to do list and expectations of myself for the rest of the day.
I hope that you try it out. Let me know in the comments below if you did and whether it helped.
Love,
Seppy
