In these series, I share a quick dose of wisdom in the hopes of inspiring and motivating you in your journey to achieving your goals and creating a life that you love. This is an excerpt from the weekly Love Letters I send to my mailing list, so make sure to subscribe if you want to receive the full letter in your inbox!
I spent a nice afternoon with my niece and sister this week, and I wanted to share with you a moment I had with my niece.
She was telling me how she might take off the training wheels from her bike this week, and she was talking through it: not sure whether she would do it this week or later, sharing her “concerns” about whether she would be okay without them, what she would do if she didn’t feel comfortable with the wheels off etc.
I explained to her that whatever she decides, whether to wait a little longer to take off the training wheels, or to take them off this weekend, that it was just temporary. And if she felt as though she needed the training wheels on again, then she could put them back on…anything she decides would be okay.
Because nothing in life is permanent. We sometimes get worried about the details of decisions and what to do next, which is normal, especially if we are trying to live with intention to create a happier and more meaningful life.
There are times in your life where you need to keep the “training wheels” on for a little while longer, until you feel more comfortable and more confident. And there are other times where you might need to put the training wheels back on if you need the extra support.
It’s okay to not be okay sometimes.
Ultimately, your journey will unfold as it is meant to, whether you keep the training wheels on or off.
