I’m on a roll so I want to keep going. But I really don’t know what I’m going to write about today. Then again, I always end up finding something to write about.
As a child, I used to talk a lot. Then again….I’m an adult, and I *still* talk a lot.
Maybe that’s why I enjoy writing. Because I can keep “talking” and I don’t feel like I’m boring anyone, since you could stop reading whenever you get bored. But hopefully you’re not bored. Hopefully you’re curious about what random thoughts I share in these series.
I was thinking today about the question : how do I want to serve people? In other words, how do I want to help others?
That’s a concept that was instilled in me at a very young age through my upbringing. My parents are the kindest people I know. They go out of their way to be nice to people, whether they’re strangers, family or friends.
My mom will bake a cake for neighbours and take it over on the day of their wedding anniversary.
My dad will shovel the front door neighbour’s driveway whenever he can.
My parents will call their friends and check up on them.
My dad’s career revolved around helping others. He’s a civil engineer, specialized in dams, which took us to Guinea (Africa) where he worked on building the irrigation system for the cities around the capital.
*That* is what I grew up around and what I exposed to from a young age. And what I constantly ask myself – how can I contribute to the world? How can I make the world a better place, through small acts of kindness?
And that’s what I wanted you to start thinking about. What are the small things you can do every day to try and make the day of someone else a bit brighter, to make someone smile, to help someone…
How do you want to impact the world around you, whether it’s your family, friends or strangers?
That’s all I have, and a question I’m continuously pondering. Because I want my life to have meaning. And I want to make every moment I have on this earth count for something good. And I hope you will do the same.
See you tomorrow… (and if you have an answer to my question, I’d love to hear your thoughts. You can share in the comments below).
