What’s holding you back from setting and/or achieving your inspired? It’s time to stop letting fear hold you back from taking action. Let this post be your reminder of why you should be scared to not achieve your goals – because you don’t want to wake up one day and realize that you wasted your life away.
If I asked you: What you are scared of? What would your honest answer be?
And I’m not talking about being scared of spiders or snakes (let’s not even talk about spiders….cuz yo’ girl cannot STAND them. In my defence, I was bitten by a poisonous spider when I lived in Africa during my childhood, so that’s where MY fear of spiders comes from. What’s YOUR excuse?!).
I’m referring to deep-seeded fears that are holding you back from living your best life. That are stopping you from taking a leap of faith and taking a chance on yourself to really go for your dreams and allow yourself to create the life of your dreams.
What I’m scared of is to wake up one day and realize that I wasted my life. That I didn’t follow my dreams, that I didn’t try.
I’m not scared of failing, because I know that nothing is a failure as long as I learned something from it.
I’m scared of not trying.
I’m bringing this up as some tough love because I hear it from so many of you. I’ve been hearing:
- I’m scared of failing
- I’m scared of the unknown
- I’m scared of not figuring out what I want
- I’m scared I wont be able to GET what I want
Do any of these sound familiar to you?
I’m here to tell you that you shouldn’t be scared of any of it. In fact, that fear is normal and it’s great that you’re feeling it because it means that your subconscious is aware of the stakes if you DON’T TRY. And honestly, you should just learn to ignore it. (Fun fact: I like to call that voice that creeps up in my head to make me feel scared… I call her the inner bitch and I like to her to ignore as much as possible).
You should rather be scared of wasting time, of not trying and of feeling like you wasted your potential.
So here’s your big kick in the butt, your wake up call if you needed it or the fire up to your ass to just get up and try.

This is your time to get up and do something about your unhappiness, about feeling useless, about not having purpose.
You need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and stop making excuses and take control of yourself and your life.
The Rocking Chair Test
I want you to take a moment and close your eyes (ok, read this section first and THEN close your eyes).
I want you to imagine yourself at an old age, maybe 80-90 years old.
You’re sitting on a rocking chair, beside the window, and you’re reflecting on your life.
How do you feel?
Do you feel proud and accomplished? Are you happy with all the adventures you’ve lived in your life? Do you feel like you fulfilled your life’s purpose?

Do you look back on your life and think to yourself “I did it. I did what I wanted. I contributed what I could. And I truly tried my best. I made an effort every day to be a good person, to have an impact, to help others, and to work on my dreams.”
Or are you feeling panicked, like you wasted your time and didn’t go for it when you had the chance. Or perhaps you stopped yourself when an opportunity came your way.
Whatever your story might be, I want you to look into the future so that you can take a moment and realize – which story do you want to be yours?
Do you want to feel at peace with the life that you lived, or do you want to be filled with regret?
You should be scared because life is short
Time is the most precious commodity we have because it non-renewable. Once a moment has passed, it’s gone and it can never be retrieved again. It can only be re-lived through your memories, but you don’t get a second chance at making a different choice in that past moment.
So I want you to make sure that in every moment, you are making a conscious choice.
I want you to make the conscious decision to choose joy, to choose to find meaning in every moment, to undersatnd that every moment is a gift and that whatever you are going trhough, there is a greater meaning for it, you just have to find it so that you can be empowered and inspired to make the necessary changes.
When I was younger, I remember looking at my sister when she turned 21 years old and thinking that she was so old (she’s 9 years older than me).
When I turned 21 years old, I couldn’t believe that I was that age already. And now that I’m older than 21, I can’t believe how fast life is going by.
And I am absolutely saying this to scare you and shake you out of it. Because not only do you need to be shaken out of it but I also need the constant reminder that life is short and that every moment is a blessing and counts for something.
So are you going to sit on your ass and moan and complain and make excuses about your life is a certain way?
Or will you get up, decide that you want more out of your life. That you want to be happy and fulfilled. That you want to find meaning in your life, That you want to live your purpose. And that you want to create a life that you love.
Which one will you be?

You should be scared of regret
Have you ever thought “I wish I hadn’t tried something new”.
Highly unlikely.Have you every though: “What if…?”
Isn’t that torture?!
Don’t wait for your life to you pass you by and you to wake up regretting NOT having tried. Regret is a worse feeling than failure, because you will absolutely regret missing out opportunities and missing out on creating your dream life, but you will NOT miss out on sitting on your ass at home, too scared to do anything and too scared to face yourself in the mirror and not making the changes happen.
The thing about regret is that it happens AFTER the fact – after you didn’t do that thing or after you let things go without trying.Don’t let that happen to you. Be pro-active and avoid feeling regret in the future by at least giving it a real go, by trying something and if it doesn’t work, then at least you’ll know.
Because until you try something, you wont know whether it was really meant for you or whether it was an ideal that you were creating for yourself.
You should be scared of not reaching your full potential
I talk a lot about setting and achieving inspired and meaningful goals because to me, it’s about living a life of love and purpose. It’s about the personal development journey that you embark on as you are trying to achieve your goals.
And with that being said, that means that on your path to slaying your goals, you are becoming a stronger, more empowered and more inspired person. By making changes in your life like uncovering and overcoming your limiting beliefs or building healthier and more inspiring habits, you are striving to become better and stronger every day.
If you don’t do those things, if you don’t try to become a better person, if you don’t take the time to go on your own personal development journey, you will not reach your full potential.
You might reach some of your potential, but nothing compared to you going out into the world and doing everything you can to slay your goals.
Get Started!
I know, I shared a lot of tough love but if you’re still here, then you need a huge pat on the back because facing the truth is the first step in you living a life of love and purpose. And that means that you just started or took a step towards that personal growth journey.
If you’re ready to take the next step, then you need to start diving into the different areas of personal development. Start learning about the different things that you can do to up level your life.
It starts with just a few easy changes, like implementing an inspiring morning routine, or taking care of your body, or investing in yourself and actually sitting down and figuring out what your inspired goals and what you want to achieve in life.
Whatever you feel is the right next step, take immediate action. Do something, right away, even if it’s 5-10 minutes of your time, do it. Create momentum and take immediate action towards one of the above mentioned suggestions.
A great place to start is the goal-setting resource library packed with tons of free resources. Or you can read a few more posts or download a free worksheet like the self-discovery journal prompts.
