If you’re new to the personal development and self-help space, here’s everything you know to get your started on your own personal growth journey. Become the best version of yourself and live your dream starts NOW!
In case you haven’t noticed it yet, there’s a growing trend of personal development and self-help content out there and it makes me SO excited!
I think that it’s easy to get caught up in life and forget that we’re human beings and that at the end of the day, whatever career, lifestyle, life circumstances or anything else you might be facing, the purpose of life is to grow and to become a better person every day.
There are so many incredible tools and resources out there to help you become a better version of yourself, and I’m grateful that you’re here in my space of the internet where I share my learnings, my lessons and the tools that I’ve applied and that have worked for me in my own personal development journey.

If I look at myself now compared to 6 months ago let alone 2-3 years ago, I’m amazed and proud of myself at the progress that I’ve made.
If you haven’t read about my story, I’ve overcome depression, I’ve learned to manage severe anxiety and I’ve gone from feeling completely hopeless, discouraged, unmotivated and depressed to finding my true self and creating the life of my dreams.
I married the love of my life, I’m in the best physical shape I’ve ever been (and lost over 20 lbs in the process, in a healthy and sustainable way!), I’ve completely transformed my mindset and how I look at and interpret the world, I live in a beautiful home in an amazing city, I have a steady job that gives me the stability that I need to work on my passion – this blog.
Why am I sharing all of this?
It’s not to show off. It’s to tell you how powerful personal development is. How much you can transform in your own life if you choose to use the resources and tools at your disposal. If you make consistent efforts and make the time to learn and apply the things that you are learning, you will see transformation in your life and in yourself beyond your imagination.

This comes from someone who was at times suicidal (this is the first time that I share this on the blog…) I was so depressed and hopeless and that I didn’t have ANY hope that things would get better. I couldn’t even IMAGINE that there’s any light at the end of the tunnel because the tunnel was so damn dark.
I’m here to tell you that if I can do it, you can do it too. If I was able to transform my body, my mind and my life, you can too. It takes time, it takes effort, but really, it’s about what you believe that you deserve and how much effort you are willing to make to face the uncomfortable truths to be able to find the freeing answers and your path in life.
What is Personal Development
It’s pretty straight forward – personal development is you becoming a better version of yourself. Learning about who you are, what your values and beliefs are, and how you can become a better person.
A “better” person can be a lot of things, but at its core, it means to become the true version of yourself, that’s deep down. Allowing yourself, your personality, your character, your strengths and weaknesses shine, and how you use those qualities to contribute to the world, to your family, to your community around you.
[bctt tweet=”Personal development takes time and effort, but it’s about what you believe that you deserve and how much effort you are willing to make to face the uncomfortable truths to be able to find the freeing answers and your path in life.” username=”seppyforlove”]
Personal development is about constant and never-ending improvement. Because perfection does not exist, personal development is your ability to continuously learn and grow and fail and learn and grow some more.
Why Personal Development is Important
If you are not growing, you are dying.
I know that it sounds extreme but think about, if a plant isn’t growing every day, even if it’s by a tiny amount, what’s happening to it?
If you are not growing, if you are not learning and you are not transforming and changing, then you are “dying”. You are not progressing and you are in a status quo and that’s the source of internal unhappiness.
Think about it – how do you feel when you learn something new? And it doesn’t have to be something huge. Even if you learn how something works or you are able to fix something in your house? How do you feel?
My guess is that you feel excited and proud, even for a split second.
And that’s why personal development is so important. The more you grow and learn and progress, the happier and prouder you can be of yourself. Because you are allowing your true self to blossom and flourish. You are unleashing your true potential on the world. You are giving yourself a chance to live your best life and be the best version of YOU that can exist.
Personal Development Tool # 1 | Reflection & Journaling
You know how in school, you would learn something in class, then have homework to practice, then an exam that your teacher would grade and give you feedback on?
Well, the same principle applies to personal development.
Learn a concept, apply it and then take time to assess how you did.
Reflecting on our actions, reactions, behaviours, thoughts is something that we need to be more systematic about because otherwise, how will we know how we are progressing and how we did if we don’t take the time to assess it?
And it’s a simple process, it requires simply being aware of how you’re doing, how much you’re progressing, what efforts you’re making and what you can change to make it better.
It starts by simply asking yourself: How am I progressing? What have I learned lately? And have I applied that lesson elsewhere?
I put journaling in the same section because I strongly believe that writing things down will help you a lot because you can
Go back and see your progress
Track your progress with time (i.e. with a habit tracker for example)
You remove the thoughts and emotions from your mind which help you take a more objective look at it
It can give you a different perspective to be able to analyze more effectively
Personal Development Tool # 2 | Educate Yourself
The more you learn, the more power you give yourself to progress at a faster rate. There are so many incredible resources out there that can help you fastback your personal development journey.
Keep in mind that I’m saying that while also reminding you that we each have our own journeys and that until you truly learned a lesson, the test will come back in your life.
[bctt tweet=”Knowledge is power – the more you learn, the quicker you can apply the concepts to your own life and fast-track your personal development journey!” username=”seppyforlove”]
So how do you educated yourself in personal development? By learning from the experts and by learning from other people’s experiences. By reading books, listening to podcasts, watching documentaries, talking with friends, reading blogs, doing exercises, going to talks and conferences, doing workshops…
The list is ENDLESS! If you need a place to start, check out my Goal-Setting Resource Library because it’s packed with resources to set the foundation for personal development such as uncovering your limiting beliefs, practicing positive habits like gratitude and so much more.
You have to start somewhere and honestly, you can never learn enough. Even if you learn something once, you can re-read it or re-learn it a different way because you are constantly growing and changing as an individual so the way you understand something the first or second time you learn it is going to be different every time because you are changing.
Your dream life starts NOW! Access the goal-setting resource library where you will find action-based guides, worksheets and resources that you need!
Personal Development Tool # 3 | Be Honest with Yourself
This is a tough one but an important one.
If you can’t be honest with yourself about how much you’re progressing, what you did “wrong”, how you can do something differently, how do you expect to progress?
Even though there are times where your conscious might not be ready to face the truth, which is okay, it’s important to remember to be as honest with yourself as much as possible.
[bctt tweet=”The only way you can grow and evolve as a person is if you are brutally honest with yourself so that you can make the necessary changes to create and live your dream life ” username=”seppyforlove”]
Sometimes, we’re our own worst critics and facing the truth can be scary because we might feel like we failed, or that it’s proof that we don’t deserve something, or we’re just afraid that it won’t change or we won’t be able to improve.
But the reality is that the truth is freeing. The more honest you are with yourself, the more you are giving yourself a chance to grow and progress and become a better version of yourself.
[bctt tweet=”The more honest you are with yourself, the more you are giving yourself a chance to grow and progress and become a better version of yourself” username=”seppyforlove”]
By being truthful about your weaknesses for example, if you are able to pinpoint the things that you need to work, the easier it will be to find the answer and strategy on HOW to do it.
If you ignore the truth now, how can you find the truth and answer for your future?
And you don’t even need to share anything with anyone. You can keep the information for yourself. Or you can share with a close friend that you trust wont judge you and will be able to brainstorm on how you can change something.

Personal Development Tool # 4 | Don’t Compare Your Journey to Someone Else’s
You are unique. You have unique personality and character traits, a unique upbringing and unique experiences.
You are unique.
Then why the f*ck would you compare yourself to ANYONE else? Whether it’s your sister, your friend or someone on social media?!
I get it, the comparison game is tough, especially when you want something so badly. If you are working towards your dream body or your dream career and then you see someone with it already, OF COURSE it’s hard not to compare and envy them because that’s what YOU want.
But guess what? No one is perfect. And we each have a different path and journey to follow in life. You are you. You are unique. Therefore your life is unique to YOU and your journey will be different than ANYONE.
[bctt tweet=”We each have a different path and journey to follow in life. You are you. You are unique. Therefore your life is unique to YOU and your journey will be different than ANYONE” username=”seppyforlove”]
So stop comparing where you are to someone else’s journey.
We can learn from someone else’s experience and see what elements we can use in our own journey, but just because it looks as though someone is at a more advanced stage than us doesn’t mean ANYTHING because we each have our own struggles and someone might be looking at YOU and thinking the same thing.
Comparing will only hurt your progress because you are lingering on the scarcity mindset rather than focusing on what you can do, right now, to work towards becoming your future self. You are robbing yourself from your ability to feel empowered and inspired to follow your own personal development journey.
Personal Development Tool # 5 | Mindset
This one is so important that I’ve focused the content of a whole MONTH on it.
Why? Because I’ve experienced firsthand the transformation you will see in yourself the moment you start working on your mindset and making it more positive and empowering and inspiring.
Your mind is the place where everything starts your thoughts about a situation, your interpretation about what something means, and subsequently, your emotions and feelings about it. Your mind therefore has the power to determine how you experience life. Whether you will feel empowered and inspired or whether you will feel frustrated most of the time.
By transforming your mindset, you can transform your personal development journey. You will welcome challenges because you will see it as an opportunity for growth and progress and change, which means that you it’s bringing you one step closer to your ultimate goal. Your mindset will help you in your personal development by allowing your to adopt a positive and empowering mindset where you are constantly looking for opportunities for growth and learning.
Transform your mindset and you will transform your life and supercharge your personal development journey.
Get Started!
Take charge of your life and feel empowered in your personal development journey. Change is inevitable and how quickly and how easily it happens only depends on you and how you choose to accomplish it.

I think the point about not comparing yourself to others is sooo relevant in this day and age. Everyone is going on their own journey and just because someone else has achieved something it doesn’t mean you won’t! This was a really uplifting post – so happy to hear about your personal development progress and I wish you all the best!
