7 important things that you need to know about goal-slaying, whether you’re a beginner or not. Because goal-slaying is about more than the goal itself. It’s about creating a life of love and purpose where you find meaning in every moment. Here’s your beginner’s guide to goal-slaying.
If you’re sick of hearing about “goal-setting this” and “goal-setting that”, I’m totally with you. I’m sick of it too.
I started setting goals years ago and with time, I realized that I was getting…bored. I wasn’t feeling inspired let alone motivated to achieve my goals.
Until I realized that I wasn’t setting goals the right way.
Because here’s the truth – “traditional” goal-setting doesn’t work and honestly, it gets boring. And it shouldn’t be boring! It should be exciting and fun and empowering!
What I choose to do is to set and achieve INSPIRED goals because my goal-slaying journey is not about the goals themselves, it’s about creating a life of love and purpose so that I can find meaning in every moment.
[bctt tweet=”Your goal-slaying journey should be about creating a life of love and purpose” username=”seppyforlove”]
Which is why I’m so excited to share with you 7 things you need to know about goal-slaying…the inspired way!
Goal-Slaying Tip # 1 | It’s not about the Goal
SURPRISE! You’re actually not really on a goal-slaying journey, you’re actually on a … (drumroll please) on a personal development journey!
Here’s the truth: achieving goals isn’t about the goal itself but rather about the person that you are becoming as you are working towards your goals.
When you have a goal in mind and you start working towards them, there are so many different facets that come into play. For example, you need to cultivate a more positive mindset, you will have to work on developing healthier habits. You will have to be disciplined to implement those habits. You will have to manage your inner dialogue to be loving and supportive of yourself. The list goes on.
Because you’re not only achieving a goal. You are working on yourself and becoming a better version of yourself and becoming the person you need to be to be able to achieve that goal.
[bctt tweet=”Goal-slaying tip : it’s about the goal itself, it’s about the person you’re becoming as you work towards achieving that goal” username=”seppyforlove”]
For example, if your goal is to attract your ideal partner and relationship, it’s not only about finding that person – you need to become the ideal partner FOR your ideal partner so that you can A) Attract them into your life and B) KEEP them in your life.
See, if you have a dream goal but as a person, you’re not ready to attract that goal or to keep it…in other words, if you don’t have the skills and tools in hand to maintain and have those goals in your life, then you wont be able to achieve them.
Goal-Slaying Tip # 2 | Your goals will change with time
As explained in tip # 1, as you work towards a goal, you learn more about yourself and about who you are. But you also learn about the goal itself and uncover the true reason behind the reasons why you wanted to achieve that goal in the first place.
As time progresses, you might realize that what you were trying to achieve wasn’t actually in fact the goal you set for yourself initially.
Let me give you an example from my life.
At the beginning of this year, I decided that I wanted to weigh a certain weight and have certain body measurements.
Why?
Because that’s what I decided based on what I was seeing on social media. I decided that those were the body measurements I wanted to look good. I thought that those measurements and looking a certain way was what would take for me to be happy and confident with my body.
But guess what?
As time went on and as I started getting in better shape, I still looked at my body and would find reasons why I didn’t like something. Even though I was progressing at the gym and my workouts were getting more intense and I WAS gaining definition in my body… I was still unhappy with how I looked and how I felt.
Because the real goal wasn’t about my body and how I looked. What I was truly looking for was self-love and confidence. And when I looked at other women that looked confident and happy in their skin, they looked a certain way. So I made the wrong assumption that I needed to look a certain way to feel happy and confident.
Until I started finding body positive women that inspired me and made me understand that what I was truly seeking was to create a healthier and more positive relationship with myself and my body so that I wasn’t defining myself based on what I looked like but rather who I am as a person.
Do you see how the goal of weight loss became a self-love goal instead? (*This is really important to understand the change in perception from the the initial goal to the new and more inspired goal!)
[bctt tweet=”As you work towards your goals, they will start to change and shift as you are growing and changing too! Be open to change” username=”seppyforlove”]
And that’s what I mean – you will have a goal in mind, and as you start working towards that goal, you might start to realize that there might be a shift in the goal – that your goal was actually something deeper that you were seeking.
So be open to that and make sure that you are constantly checking in with yourself to listen to your inner voice that will guide you towards the true inspired goal that your heart is calling for.

Goal-Slaying Tip # 3 | You need to look in the mirror
This might be a hard one but a very necessary step.
If you’re setting goals or you’re already on your goal-slaying journey, you will need to constantly check in with yourself to see how you’re doing, how you’re feeling and where you’re at.
Are you progressing? Are you connecting with your goals? Are you really making the necessary effort that you promised yourself? Do you still feel inspired with this goal? Do you still feel as excited as you did at the beginning?
By taking a hard look at yourself, you will be able to truly see your progress (or lack thereof) and not as a way to criticize yourself, but as a way to ensure that you are on the RIGHT journey – that you are working towards goals that are inspiring and meaningful to YOU. That you are striving to slay goals that your heart truly desires.
[bctt tweet=”Goal-Slaying tip: Constantly ask yourself : are you on the right journey? Are you working towards goals that are inspired and meaningful to you? If not, then you need to change your goal!” username=”seppyforlove”]
Now…you’re probably wondering, “Seppy, how do I do this? Do I look at myself in the mirror and talk to myself?”
I mean…you could…but that’s not what I mean.
Looking at yourself in the mirror means taking self-assessment once in a while so that I’m giving myself enough time to work towards my goals, while not doing it too frequently that I’m not allowing any real progress to happen.
My favourite tool is the life audit, where I go through a series of questions to reflect on the different areas of my life, so that I can see how I’m feeling in general. It gives me an overall glimpse into how balanced (or imbalanced) my life is so that I can make adjustments with my goals, if necessary.
If you want to know more about the life audit, you can check it out here. It’s a free resource that I created (and one of my most popular!) so make sure to try it for yourself.
Goal-Slaying Tip # 4 | Set INSPIRED goals
Have you been dreaming of buying a designer purse? Great! Do you want to splurge on a luxurious trip? Totally cool! Wanting to get out of your 9-5 job to build your own business…? Girl, ME TOO!
These are all great goals, most of which are ALSO on my list of goals I’m working on achieving.
But the foundation of my goals aren’t those THINGS themselves.
For you to successfully achieve your goals…for you to become a real GOAL-SLAYER, you need to set INSPIRED goals.
What do I mean by inspired goals?
I mean goals that inspire you, that set your soul on fire. Goals that make you feel SO excited by idea of achieving them that you can’t even sleep at night (seriously, it’s a thing, there are nights that I need to sit down and journal it out because I’m SO excited about upcoming projects that I can’t sleep).
[bctt tweet=”To really be successful, you need set inspired goals – goals that you set your soul on fire, goals that make you want to jump out of bed every morning” username=”seppyforlove”]
Your goals need to align your core values with your identity and your vision for your life. For example, if one of your core values is honesty, then I don’t think creating a business that’s a scam is a good idea (extreme example, but I hope you get my point).
Your goals must be INSPIRED because the moment you tap into your emotions and you connect with your goals on a deep, soul level….you are WINNING at life because you have found true meaning and true purpose and you have connected with a tangible, concrete goal.
Goal-Slaying Tip # 5 | It starts within
To slay your goals, you need……no… you *MUST* start by doing the inner work.
If you don’t know yourself, your values, your desires, your dreams…then how the heck do you expect to know what your inspired goals are?!
If you haven’t taken the time to listen to your heart and your soul to see what they have to say and what they want and what makes them feel happy, connected and purposeful…then how to expect to create a life of love and purpose?!
See, this is what I mean when I talk about inspired goals and when I talk about living a life of meaning and purpose.

It goes beyond the goal itself – it’s about the person that you are becoming and who you are striving to be on a daily basis. You are becoming a better version of yourself so that you can slay those inspired goals.
And it all starts with inner work that will be reflected outwardly in your life.
The moment you start tapping into your true potential, you will unleash your vast power.
What do I mean by that?
Well, more concretely, if you practice daily gratitude, then you are creating a life and mindset of abundance. If you create healthy habits like an inspiring and energizing morning routine, or healthy habits like moving your body on a daily basis, drinking enough water and feeding your body the right nutrients, then you are doing what you can so that your mind, body and soul reach their full potential.
See how the inner work of mindfulness and mindset and living a healthy life will lead to external success?
Because it all starts within. Become the best version of yourself and trust me, the rest will follow.
Goal-Slaying Tip # 6 | The foundation of goal-slaying are habits
There is SO much power in your habits and we don’t even consciously realize it.
Do you realize that most of us live on auto-pilot most of the day?
Take a second and think about it : what do you do when you wake up? When you get to work? When you get home after work? Before you go to bed?
There are automatic and repeated rituals that we do throughout our days and we don’t even realize that these are actually HABITS that we have been cultivating for years. There are so automatic that we don’t even think about it anymore.
For example, brushing your teeth, going to bed, eating meals, doing groceries, washing clothes…
Granted, not everyone do these on a regular basis (I’m looking at you, my dear reader who skips breakfast) BUT this gives you an idea of the things that we do on a daily basis that are in fact habits.
Which is why we need to be more aware of the habits that we are cultivating. Because habits can be changed. And we can choose to cultivate healthier and more empowering habits.
How do you think you would feel instead of starting your day in a mad dash if you created an inspiring and balancing morning habit where you first drink a tall glass of water to hydrate your body, then do a few light stretches to get the blood flowing and ease yourself into the day, then you sat down and took a few deep breaths, did some meditation to check in with how you’re feeling. You then journaled your goals, the things you are grateful for and setting your intentions for the day…
Doesn’t THAT sound like a better way to start your day?!
And that’s what I mean – you are your habits. The more you cultivate habits that make you mindful and aware and connected with yourself, you are creating a stronger foundation on which you can build on so that you can the energy and vitality to slay your goals.
Goal-Slaying Tip # 7 | Goal-slaying is a lifestyle
If you understand all the previous tips, then you will see that goal-slaying is more than the goal itself – it’s a lifestyle.
It’s a constant effort towards become a better, more inspired, more empowered, more positive version of yourself so that you can have the energy and vitality to slay your goals.
It’s a lifestyle because you have to continuously work on yourself to uncover and overcome limiting beliefs so that you can reach the next level.
[bctt tweet=”Goal-slaying is a lifestyle because you have to constantly work on becoming the best version of yourself so that you can slay your goals” username=”seppyforlove”]
It’s a lifestyle because you can never stop becoming a more disciplined person and patient person.
Because it’s not about the goal, but it’s about the journey. It’s about the inspired and meaningful life that you are building and your goals are a just a way to achieve the life vision that you have for yourself.

This is so powerful! Especially the piece about setting inspiring goals. You’ve hit the nail on a head with that one. If I don’t set goals that I’m itching to get started on, there is no way I’m going to get them done. What’s the point anyway? Goals need to bring us closer to the life we want to live – you’re right!
