How to transform your mindset with 5 basic tools so that you can channel the power and energy of your mind towards achieving your goals and living your dream life.
Last week, we looked at the power of your mindset. If you’re not convinced yet or if you haven’t read the post, I would highly encourage to read that first before delving into this one.
And if you’re already read it, then YAY! Have you noticed your mindset this week? Have you been able to re-direct it and find a more empowering meaning in situations you faced?
Here’s a quick recap of the importance of your mindset.
- Your mindset is a powerful tool because:
- It’s the framework where your thoughts are created and your thoughts create your reality and how you experience life.
- Harness the power of your mindset and you will be able to re-direct your thoughts which will affect your reality and your life experiences.
- Your mindset determines if you perceive a situation: challenging or empowering, frustrating or a learning opportunity.
When it comes to transforming your mindset, like anything else, it takes time and consistent efforts to build your capacity. Your brain is a muscle and to get it to where you want it to be, you have to consistently exercise it.
Here are a few practices and ways that you can transform your mindset. I strongly encourage you pick two of out the list and commit to applying it on a daily basis. Remember to be clear about how you will practice it and to track your progress so that you can monitor your progress and consistency!
Transform your Mindset – Tool # 1 | Journaling
Journaling has been a wonderful tool where I put down on paper all my thoughts, emotions and feelings about anything that happened. Putting it on paper allows me to take a step back to then analyze what happened, how I interpreted a situation and how I could have adopted a more empowering and positive mindset.
Journaling is also a tool that can help transform your mindset because you will be able to see trends, recurring patterns of thought, emotions and triggers.

By writing down situations that have occurred, your reaction and your emotions towards it, you will then be able to pinpoint more accurately areas in your mindset that you can shift to make it more empowering, inspiring and uplifting and to see it from a growth and abundance perspective.
Transform your Mindset – Tool # 2 | Mindfulness
Whether you journal or not, to transform your mindset, you have to, at the very least, start paying attention and noticing your thoughts and the words that you use to describe situations, yourself or whatever might be happening around you.
The words you use can be the trigger for how your mind will interpret its meaning and subsequently how you feel about it.
For example, if something happens and in your mind, you describe it “This is SO frustrating, I can’t believe this is happening to me!”, you’re more likely to feel discouraged and interpret the situation as something that is happening to YOU.
In other words, you might adopt a victim mentality where you are already removing the possibility of an alternative interpretation and potentially removing your ability to find a solution.

Alternatively, if you described a situation as “This is inconvenient”, your emotional response will most likely be less strong and your interpretation of the situation will probably be more tame where you will perceive it as a temporary/small challenge but that will not interrupt or interfere with your day. By keeping a level-headed mind, you will be able to think creatively and potentially find a solution or an alternative and more empowering meaning to it.
By being aware of your thoughts and the words that you use, you will slowly begin to see the dominant trends that happen in your mind. The next step will be to transform them and to use more empowering thoughts, channel your thoughts towards something more inspiring and encouraging, and to be able to find solutions or understand a situation differently.

Transform your Mindset – Tool # 3 | Flood your mind with positivity
Let’s be honest. Regardless of how much we practice mindfulness and journal, there are just some days that are more challenging to channel your thoughts to a more empowering place. You might be running on low sleep, or maybe you’re experiencing a lot of pressure at work.
In those instances, I find that I need to flood my mind with positivity. To repel and eliminate the frustrating and negative thoughts, I need to do everything that I can to cut out the negative noise or flood it out of my head. I do this my listening to uplifting music as a literal way to distract my mind from the negative and disempowering thoughts that I don’t want to have.
[bctt tweet=”Transform your mind with this easy tool: Cut out the negative noise and floor your mind with positivity by listening to music or an uplifting podcast, going for a walk, talking to a friend…there’s an endless list of possibilities ” username=”seppyforlove”]
I listen to podcast so that my mind is thinking about the inspiring and interesting topics that I’m listening to. Or I watch an educational documentary or interview that will stimulate my brain because I’m learning something new and interesting. I even go for a jog or intense workout to get my body moving so that I am redirecting my mind towards something more inspiring and helpful than pondering on the thoughts and emotions that I’m feeling.
Whatever tools work for you, do it until you feel better and have more energy and focus to be able to assess and re-direct your mindset to change your perspective on a situation and find a more empowering meaning.

Transform your Mindset – Tool # 4 | Learn from someone
We are all on our personal growth journey and are all on a different path and level.
There are moments that you are able to uplift someone else, but there are moments where you need a bit of a helping hand, and that’s okay!
In instances where you are struggling to change your mindset and re-direct your thoughts, I find that talking to someone who is able to have a more positive mindset can help you talk through the emotions you are feeling, and guide you to a more empowering and positive mindset.
[bctt tweet=”Transform your Mindset – Tool # 4 | Talk to someone about your feelings with a positive mindset so that can help you transform your perspective ” username=”seppyforlove”]
Sometimes, you just need to talk through whatever you are feeling to be able to let it go, and then be able to a more empowering mindset. With practice, this becomes easier with time and you will be able to transform your mindset almost instantly.
But realistically, there will be moments where getting the help of a close friend or an ‘expert’ like a life coach is needed because some situations might be too overwhelming or challenging to deal with.
Transform your Mindset – Tool # 5 | Meditation
This is an obvious one, which is why I didn’t want to put it first, because you’re probably rolling your eyes by now because meditation comes up a LOT when we’re talking about personal development.
And guess what? There’s a good reason for it.
If going to the gym is how you transform you body, then meditation is the gym for your mind.
[bctt tweet=”If going to the gym is how you transform you body, then meditation is the gym for your mind. Transform your mindset by practicing daily meditation” username=”seppyforlove”]
It’s the most powerful tool to calm your mind, get in touch with your feelings and emotions, and to give yourself the space to just BE and allow yourself to go through whatever you need to go through.
When it comes to transforming your mindset, it’s a practice that you need to learn and continuously apply until you become a master of it. And even then, we’re human and we’re not perfect, so your mindset will never be perfect and you will have days where it’s more challenging and takes more time and effort to shift your mindset.
But consistently meditating is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and the best thing you can do for your well-being. And we’re even talking about your physical well-being.
Meditation will help calm your nervous system, which in turn can help you sleep better, digest your food better, absorb nutrients better.. I mean… the benefits are endless and especially when it comes to transforming your mindset (which is what we’re focusing on right now), it can help you in SO many ways.

All these tips are so good! I find that the first two (writing and being mindful) work the best when I’m starting to change my mindset. Then, learning from others make me ready to start taking action.
