A new year means new goals. If you need some ideas of what you should try to achieve, here are some inspired goals you should be setting for the new year. These aren’t your typical goals but they are more inspired so that you can create a life of love and purpose.
It’s that time of year again, where we get bombarded with new year’s resolution this and setting goals that.
Don’t get me wrong, the whole point of this blog is to talk about how to set and achieve goals. But it’s not just about setting ANY goals. It’s about setting inspired and MEANINGFUL goals so that you can life a more purposeful life….it’s about creating and living a life of love and purpose.
Raise your hand if you’re with me!! Say YASSSS B*tchhhh!!!
Now.
Let’s talk about INSPIRED goals.
I’ve already went over what inspired goals are so I won’t get into it too much but as a reminder, inspired goals should set your soul on fire. They should make you feel excited and empowered. You should have a wave of positive emotions flood through at the simple THOUGHT of achieving these inspired goals.
As this is a slightly different approach to goal-setting, I thought I would give you some inspiration and some fun ideas of inspired goals that YOU should be setting for the new year.
Don’t wait until the last minute to think about what inspired goals you want to set for the new year, start thinking about it now and get ideas. And write them down! So that when the time comes for you to sit down and write it all down, you already have a pretty good idea of your inspired goals.
Let me know in the comments below which ones you’re going to try!
Inspired goals you should be setting | MIND
1. Read a new book every month
There is SO much knowledge out there and reading is a great way to relax and disconnect from the world. Next time you want some quiet time, pick up a new book!
2. Listen to a podcast every day
It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with podcasts. There are SO many different types of podcasts and it’s a great way to feed your mind while doing something else. I love listening to podcasts while I commute, when I exercise or when I’m doing chores around the house! I *might* even listen to podcasts when I take a shower…but shhh, don’t tell anyone my secret.
3. Journal
Free your mind of the clutter and write it down! There is so much power in putting in writing how you’re feeling, what you’re thinking and what your worries are. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just sit and write whatever comes to mind. If you want more inspiration, you can check out the journal prompts that I created to get you started.
4. Learn how to meditate
Another powerful and effective tool to help calm your mind and bring you back in the present moment. If you’re not sure where to start, there are tons of resources out there to learn how to meditate – books, apps and YouTube videos. My favourite app is The Calm App, and I’ve heard lots of great things about Headspace as well. The best part of meditation is that you can learn how to meditate anywhere and anytime – when you’re washing dishes, going for a walk, taking a shower…! It simply means tuning into your mind and trying to quiet the chatter inside your head.
5. Take a class
This is a fun one – always wanted to know how to dance? Take a class! Wanna learn how to cook? Take a class! Want to speak a new language…TAKE A CLASS!! There are SO many resources out there, take advantage of it! And the amazing part is that you can even take classes online, free or paid.
6. Eat dinner at the table
This might be a strange one for some of you if you already do it but I know that for me, I have to make a conscious effort NOT to eat in front of the tv or in front of my computer. Meals are meant to be a time where we can reconnect with ourselves and enjoy a meal alone or with loved ones.

7. Brush your teeth before you drink water every morning
In Ayurvedic medicine, they recommend to wash your teeth first thing in the morning because your mouth is full of bacteria and you don’t want to drink water and ingest it all! It’s something that I’ve been doing and even though I might not notice an external difference, I think it has had an impact on my digestive system. Try it out!
8. Drink a glass of lemon water every morning
I mean…you’ve heard this one before, and with good reason. There’s a lot of health benefits to doing this and you can pretty much feel it instantly. So give it a go! A small habit that can have lasting impact.
9. Dry brush once a week
This is another great way of taking care of your body because you’re helping the blood circulate in your system and helping with lymphatic drainage. Do a quick search online and you’ll see all the benefits and techniques (it’s really simple, you just need to use a semi-coarse brush and brush with upwards strokes, working from your ankles up).
10. Do a mask once a week
Again, little things you can do on a consistent basis that will make you feel like you’re taking care of your body and will help you feel better and LOOK better! I’ve made a point of doing a weekly mask and I LOVE it! It really helps having that quiet time where I’m consciously taking care of myself and then I feel more confident with clear skin.
11. Have an at-home pamper session every week
This summarized the last 2 points but I think scheduling a weekly pamper session is really important and a great way to show yourself some self-love and practicing physical and emotional self-care. It’s important to have a preventative approach to physical and emotional health by implementing these weekly habits where you’re consistently doing things to take care of yourself instead of waiting until you’re almost burned out and then you NEED to schedule a pamper session. Don’t wait!
12. Challenge yourself to move your body every day
Being physically healthy doesn’t mean that you have to spend hours at the gym. Challenge yourself to move your body, every day, so that you become used to that movement. This means walking during your lunch break, or doing a walking-coffee date with your friend on the weekend, or walking instead of taking the car….small changes will have a long-term impact positive impact on your overall well-being.
13. Remove something unhealthy from your diet
We all our vices (mine is chocolate…!) so make a conscious effort to remove or reduce how much of it you eat on a daily basis.
14. Try a new form of exercise
I’m all about movin’ that BODAY! (That’s my fun way of saying “body”. Just go with it). And you need to keep yourself interested and simulated. So try something new! Take a yoga class, go running outside, go to the gym or take a Zumba or Cross Fit. The options are endless but trust me, the moment you find your “thing” – what you enjoy doing – you wont be able to get enough and it feels SO amazing to have an amazing workout session.
15. Set fun fitness goals
Fitness and healthy should be FUN! You should look forward to doing things to take care of your body. So why not set FUN fitness goals, like being able to do push-ups, or chin-ups, or being able to run a certain distance…whatever it is, make it fun for YOU! Find something that will keep you motivated and inspired and excited to get your body moving because health and fitness is not only about your body but also about your mental and emotional well-being.
16. Take care of your health in a holistic manner
Too often, we resort to medication to alleviate common symptoms of underlying issues that we are ignoring. Stop ignoring that recurring headache or that back pain because they’re just symptoms of something that you need to change. For example, your headache might be because you’re not drinking enough water. Or you had too much sun. Or you’re eating something that you’re sensitive to. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in science and medicine and I’m all about the drugs if you need them. BUT, don’t ignore the symptoms and find the underlying cause because oftentimes, we can fix an issue through our nutrition or our lifestyle!

17. Do one cultural activity every month
When’s the last time you went to a museum? Or visited an exhibit? Yeah, what an ancient thought. There are SOOO many amazing things to learn and see in the world, challenge yourself to do a cultural activity once a month so that you can feed your soul.
18. Try a new cultural food every month
This is another fun one, especially if you’re a foodie like me. Like I said, there is so much to explore in the world and one of the ways you can discover a new culture is through their food. Try a new cultural food every type and expose yourself to new cultures! It’s really fun!
19. Bake a new recipe
Yup, I’m a foodie all the way – let’s make being in the kitchen FUN again! It challenges your mind and your senses. So pick a new recipe, once a month, and try it! Whether you’re cooking or baking, challenge yourself!
20. Host a games night
This is probably one of my favourite ways to spend time with friends. Organize a games night! This is such a fun way to spend time with your friends, share some laughs, to connect and bond!
21. Try a new hobby
Hobbies are an amazing way to channel your creativity and use your mind. If you don’t have a hobby, you need to try different ones out to see what you like. And if you already have a hobby, try something new! Or perhaps make a more conscious effort to do your hobby on a weekly basis.
22. Do a digital detox
Turn off your phone for a set period of time and disconnect from the world. We are so attached to our phones and the constant beep that steals us away from being in the present moment,

Where do I find lots of podcast choices? I’ve checked out several via Spotify but not finding THE one yet. Any suggestions for freebies?
