Are you ready to achieve your goals and live your dream life? Then you need to cultivate these 4 important habits so that you CAN slay your goals!
In the last post, I talked extensively about the importance of cultivating the right habits but more importantly, HOW to cultivate habits.
This week, I want to drive my point about the importance of habits to support you in achieving your goals and creating a life filled with meaning and purpose.
I’ve said it a thousand time and I will continue to say another thousand times: achieving your goals is about the journey and the person you’re becoming as you’re working towards your goals.
Which means that to become the person that you are meant to be, you need to practice and cultivate the habits that support your goals. You need to become the person that is able to achieve those goals.
Why?
Because habits are the foundation of LIFE. Every moment of your day is guided by habits.
And achieving your goals is a lifestyle change – it’s about transforming yourself so that you can transform your life.
[bctt tweet=”Achieving your goals is about the journey and the person you’re becoming as you’re working towards your goals.” username=”seppyforlove”]
Because you need to first do the inner work to see the external results. You need to understand the person that you need to be to successfully achieve your goals.
So you need to make sure that you are cultivating habits that support your goal-slaying journey, the habits that make you feel better, that make you feel more energized, strong, confident. The habits that make you feel HAPPIER and more balanced and more inspired and more connected to yourself.
At this point, you’re probably “OK Seppy, I get it, cultivate habits yeah, yeah, but WHICH habits do I need to cultivate? What do I need to focus on first?!”
I get it, it can be overwhelming. When you have goals that you want to achieve and you’re excited to get sh*t done, you just want to get it ALL done. I’ve been there!
But be careful.
Cultivating habits takes time and depending on the habit, some might take longer than others. And some habits will be incorporated in your daily routine but will have to continuously refine it as you progress and become better at it.
So you have to be patient and consistent as you’re jumping on this journey. And you have to start small – pick 1-2 habits at first, cultivate them and become REALLY good at them, and then add more as you go.
Because you want to set yourself up for success. You want to create a positive cycle of growth where one success feeds into the next. Where you see the benefits of one small change, and then you want to do more, and more..and more…until you get to a point where some of these habits become second nature and before you know, you’ve created your dream life and you’ve become the person that you’ve always dreamt of being!
Alright, enough said about the importance of habits. Now let’s get into the habits that will support your goal-slaying journey and help you create your dream life.
PIN NOW, READ LATER!
Habit # 1 | Positive thinking
I might get a few eye rolls out there with the whole “positive thinking” but hear me out.
What you might not realize is that your thoughts are actually habits.
YES! They are!
Here’s how: from a young age, you have learned how to think and see the world from your upbringing. And these beliefs and thoughts have been reinforced throughout your life as you experienced different situations and have had different encounters.
So your thoughts and your beliefs, depending on how they were shaped, will impact how you perceive the world, how you interpret situations and how you approach your life and what you believe is possible and impossible.
For example, if you were brought up to believe that opportunities in the world are scarce and that anything you want, you have to work for it, REALLY hard, then that’s how you will perceive your goals.

You will see goals as something almost unattainable, that there aren’t enough resources in the world and that achieving your goals is going to be hard, which probably means that you won’t even want to try.
Your thoughts will impact your beliefs about yourself and whether you can (or can’t) achieve your goals.
And that’s why positive thinking and learning how to change your mindset and having a positive outlook on any challenge or situation that comes your way is a crucial part of being able to live an inspired life and achieving your goals.

Habit # 2 | Healthy living
Healthy living is very broad, I know. But there’s a reason for that.
How we define “healthy” is going to be different from one person to the next.
What you might define “healthy” might not be the same for me. And that’s okay.
You just have to find what healthy means to YOU and to cultivate it as a habit. You need to see things like drinking water, moving your body and exercising, eating enough vegetables, reducing your stress, deep breathing etc. as HABITS that you need to cultivate.
Because once these become habits, you don’t even have to think about it. It becomes second nature. It’s a normal part of your day to drink water. To eat your veggies. To move your body.
And these habits are SO fundamental to help you support your goal-slaying journey because if you’re not healthy, then you don’t feel good. You don’t have energy. You feel letheargic.
It even goes as far as affecting your confidence and your feelings of self-worth because you might not feel like you are good enough to achieve your goals because of how you feel in your body!
Seriously! Think about it – when you eat a healthy meal, how do you feel about it after? Do you feel light, nourished and GOOD?
How about when you eat an unhealthy meal, how do you feel after it? Heavy? Maybe you get some stomach pains? Do you feel maybe…kinda gross…? And if you feel that way, do you think you will feel inspired to sit down and work on your goals?
Probably not.
Don’t get me wrong, life is all about balance. I myself practice mindful eating so a chocolate here and there, a few fries here and there, I personally don’t think it’s a big deal and I am creating a healthier approach to eating and my health where I listen to my body but also to my soul so that I am allowing myself occasional indulgences.
But the point that I’m trying to get across is that I want you to sit down and really define how you to FEEL in your body because that will directly impact your morale and how you feel about yourself, which subsequently will impact your beliefs about yourself and whether you think you can do something and slay your goals.
Habit # 3 | Be in a constant learning mode
Oh goodness, this is a good one that I’ve been practicing for a few years and it’s life-changing.
SO, what do I mean by “learning mode”. It literally means that I want you to constantly try and learn more. Whether you’re learning a new skill, a new language or refining something you already know, or something more ambiguous like trying to learn from a situation or an encounter with someone.
The more you try and learn, the more you are giving yourself the right tools and knowledge to go through life with more ease.
Yes, learning a new skill will help you in your life. How? Because you are practicing the habit of discipline by constantly practicing that new skill.
You are practicing patience because it might take some time to learn or refine that skill. You are practicing self-worth by being kind with yourself as you are learning and making mistake, while still recognizing that you are still good enough even though you’re not perfect.
The more you cultivate the habit of learning, the more you are nurturing yourself. You are taking care of your mind and your soul at the same time.
You are growing as an individual and evolving so that whenever you’re faced with a new situation, you have the inner tools at your disposal to manage any challenge that comes your way!
So where can you learn new things?
Well, it really depends on WHAT you’re learning. If you’re learning a new language or a new skill, there are TONS of resources online or in your community so that you can take a class or find free videos and tutorials.
As long as you have an idea of what you want to learn, and the commitment to practice it consistently, you can really teach yourself anything.
Now if we’re talking about learning something like patience or self-love or improving your interpersonal skills or your communication skills, then you will have to be conscious of situations where those skills are being challenged and tested so that you can practice and adjust and try different approaches so that you can learn.
Because every situation and challenge and encounter is an opportunity for you to refine a skill and learn more about yourself.
Habit # 4 | Reflection
This is a habit that will facilitate your learning process.
What’s “reflection” exactly and what does it look like in practical terms?
It literally means just taking the time to reflect, assess, observe, take in a situation, assess what happened, think about your contribution to the situation and how you could have handled it differently.
You can choose to reflect by meditating, by writing it down in your journal (which is what I would encourage you to do as well) or by even talking it through with someone close to you that you trust will not judge you and will help you keep an unbiased perspective.
Reflection is an important habit to cultivate when it comes to living a more inspired life but obviously, to slay your goals too.
Because when you take the time to reflect, to look back on your progress, what you learned, what you didn’t do and why you didn’t reach your milestones, then you will be able to better assess how you can move forward and adjust your strategy and approach so that you CAN slay your goals!
Get Started!
Pick ONE of these habits and commit to cultivating it for at least 1 month!! I want you to prioritize yourself, your well-being and your LIFE because if you truly want to create your dream life and achieve your goals, then you need to start taking it seriously and practice habits that will support those dreams.
And if you were inspired as you read this post and thought of other habits that you want to cultivate, share them in comments below! I want to cheer you on and encourage you because creating and living your dream life is my biggest wish for you, and I *know* that it starts by cultivating the right habits.

Before I started taking photography classes, I thought it was just about getting a camera, taking some few snaps and then you go posting on IG. I tried it though then I discovered there’s always something to learn before you start. But, the problem is always with “Getting started”. Nice post. I also love it.
